Saturday - Well it was quite a weekend. The temps & sun were so nice. The wind wasn't as cooperating. Saturday I got in 80 miles which felt really good. There were times when I felt I had to lean at a 45 degree angle to balance the cross wind out but it was all worth it when I turned and had a tail wind. Once that happened it was pretty easy to stay above 26/27mph. Got to ride with a very nice bunch of triathletes from DSM. I had to laugh that we were all in our aero-bars and were still drafting every once in a while. Thought only road racers did that, guess when you have 30+mph wind gusts it helps to get protected. Followed the ride with a 3 mile run - not easy!
Sunday - An early morning 2 hour run followed by an hour bike ride. Got in 14 miles at a pace of 8:24 which shockingly felt pretty good. Transitioning to the bike hurt for about the first 15 min. but then I got into a pretty good rhythm. Ran with Sara and Kelli - we had a nice time. Sara is such a strong runner - I feel like she could turn on the afterburners at any time and leave me in the dust. More to come soon.
Have a good week! Don't just workout - train for something!
